Our Christmas 2000 Update Letter...
Hello! We hope
things are going well in your household! It has been a few years since we
sent Christmas greetings (we’ve been protesting high mailing costs and
trying to save the rain forests in South America J). Well,
here is a quick update on life in our Vokey house:
Alex is now 8 ½ years old and is in grade 3 at Sun
Valley School. He loves learning about anything he can, questions life in
general, and could probably eat and sleep by a computer (which he is NOT
allowed to do!). He is quite a remarkable child, able to absorb
information like a sponge. He is in Cubs, and thinks it’s pretty cool
earning badges for stuff he likes doing anyhow.
Cierra is 5 and in kindergarten already! She is slowly
learning to read, enjoys making out the sounds of the letters, and still
loves being read to. She is in Beavers and trying hard to follow in her
big brother’s footsteps. She is quite eager for Santa to come (both kids
helped set up the Christmas tree back in November). Cierra really is a
little piece of sunshine that lives in our house!
Our office
(Fortress Software) is busy and doing very well again this year. Brad is in the office every day, full time,
(which for Brad is noon to five as he refuses to get up early!). When he’s
home he’s busy updating the web site (check it out: www.matchmake.com) or playing
computer games with Alex. He’s very happy he doesn’t have to work at
Safeway anymore. It’s nice having him home every evening and weekend.
I’m taking some
time off until spring from working (other than going in to the office a
few days a week). I am a part time Beaver Leader, and help out with the
fundraising for our Scouting Group. Amazing what you can accomplish at
home when a job doesn’t get in the way…(ha ha). We hope to get out
east for a summer excursion this year (2001). Alex has been asking about
Niagara Falls. Hopefully our poor old motor home can make it. It died
three times on us last summer during our trip to the Black Hills,
Yellowstone and the Rockies of Alberta. But…after a new transmission who
knows where it’ll take us!
